'I finally got to be who I really am': Newfoundland's first transgender councillor grateful for support

The 41-year-old was elected to council in Gillams — located just west of Corner Brook — a few weeks ago during the province’s municipal elections. She became the first openly transgender person elected to municipal politics in Newfoundland and Labrador (2020).

In 2021, St. John’s elected the first transgender councillor
